About me?
Joris has been working with the AWS Cloud since 2009 and focussing on building event driven architectures. While working with the cloud from (almost) the start he has seen most of the services being launched. Joris strongly believes in automation and infrastructure as code and is open to learn new things and experiment with them, because that is the way to learn and grow. In his spare time he enjoys running and runs a small micro brewery from his home.
CTO for AWS at Xebia Cloud - Sep 2024
I was appointed as the CTO for AWS in September 2024. Next to my role as CTO, I still do consultancy and give trainings. As CTO it is important to stay connected with the work that we do for our customers.
Consultant and Instructor - Jul 2021 till Sep 2024
Making an impact at our customers and help them move further by utilizing the AWS Cloud. From Jul 2021 till Dec 2022, I did this as part of Binx.io. But from January 2023 we joined the mother company Xebia. Together with the sister company Oblivion Cloud Control we are now operating under the Xebia Cloud brand.

Software Engineer at WoodWing - Apr 2008 till Jun 2021
From 2008 until 2017 i was responsible for the internal infrastructure of WoodWing. One of my first projects was to rebuild the licensing backend from scratch and still providing maintenance on this system until today. In Q4 of 2009 speculations of a iPad device started seen the light of day and i was assigned to work on a project to build a backend that could serve digital content to these still “unknown” devices. As a result WoodWing helped Time Inc to have there magazine available for download at the day of the launch of the iPad in 2010. 2010 till 2012 i was responsible for the global availability of this system besides new features and general maintenance tasks. From 2012 i have deployed various new applications and existing on-premise applications to the AWS Cloud. From 2013 WoodWing became a AWS Partner and i was responsible for maintaining the relation with the Partner and the Account manager. From 2016 i worked on a solution to run all products from WoodWing as a SaaS offering.

Responsible for the internal infrastructure of World Clip Experience and develop new features and maintain the clip production pipeline.

Responsible for the internal infrastructure of Bokumo (including Active Directory and Exchange) and repairing personal computers of the customers in the office or on-site.
