AWS Meetup, Serverless Brewing IPAs
- 2 minutes read - 245 words. My first AWS Meetup User group presentation. I was a long time participant and had good contact with Martijn van Dongen over the years. So at one day he approached me and asked me to submit a talk for one of the meetups. Having to attend almost all meetups, saying no was not really an answer.
After a while I had a subject that I wanted to share. But the problem was that I couldn’t not with the project it was used for… So I resorted to change the use-case to my hobby, brewing beer. So I started to prepare and build a proof of concept with the same concepts and build my presentation based on that.
In the presentation I walked through how to build an API that can track your beer fermentation process. I shared my lessons learned while I started building this API. These included the power of Lambda destinations and using X-Ray for tracing, analyzing and debugging the flows.
The agenda of that evening looked as followed:
- 17:30 Registration & Food
- 18:30 How to break down a monolith in the world of master data
- 19:15 Short Break
- 19:30 20 minutes of Amplify AWSomeness
- 19:50 Learning API Gateway, SQS, Lambda and DynamoDB by brewing an IPA at home
- 20:15 Drinks & Networking
- 21:00 End
Looking back, this was the last physical AWS Meetup that was organized due to the Corona virus.
